About Rhedeg Eryri
Hi, I'm Sarah, director of Rhedeg Eryri (Run Snowdonia)
I initiated the business back in 2007, shortly after settling in the area.
Having grown up in Australia and living for a year in both Scotland and New Zealand, I appreciated how long it takes to learn the best routes in a new area. I realised I could be giving people a guaranteed fantastic run in terrain they may not have the confidence to run themselves.
Running is a great way to see a new area, yet getting a quality run in unfamiliar terrain can be difficult. Hiring a guide to keep you safe, who can also show you some awesome routes away from the tourist crowds, takes the hassle away.
There were a few hurdles. At the time no one was taking people running at higher altitudes in mountainous terrain, with only one other business in Scotland doing lower level trail running experiences. I was constantly discouraged by comments that it wasn't safe to guide people running but I was determined.
I had ample experience running and racing and had gained the necessary qualifications for navigation and keeping people safe in the outdoors. I knew that the transition from walking to running was possible, so I launched my first training camp.
From that point on we enjoyed running, coaching and guiding a fantastic group of people over the next 15 years. Then Covid struck...
I kept a few select private clients for bespoke guided experiences, but the running camps were forced to stop. After a few years I had an exciting opportunity to work in website development, where I focussed my attention until AI struck...
I am now focussing on yet another career pivot, as an artist! But I am determined to keep working on providing the support and motivation to help people enjoy the outdoors the same way I continue to.
As such, I have a strong commitment to building this website with information and training support so that people can empower themselves with the skills to be able to run where ever they desire!
